Tour de Feminin 2026: Tradition in a New Guise, Cutting-Edge Technology, and a Program for Children
Looking Back: When Rain Writes the Stories
In 2025, riders had to battle cold and rainy weather from the very first stage, which added even more value to the victory of Scottish rider Kate Richardson (then riding for Handsling Alba). A great performance was also delivered by the top Czech rider, Barbora Němcová, who finished 14th in the general classification, confirming the strength of domestic women’s cycling.
This Year's Attractions: Professional Apps and Joy for Children
Interest in starting at Tour de Feminin is enormous this year. "29 teams – the maximum possible number – are registered for the race, while a record of 58 teams applied in total this year," reveals race director Simona Davídková.
In addition to the professional peloton, the youngest generation will get their turn this year – a children's cycling race is in preparation, with details to be revealed soon.
A significant technical innovation is the implementation of the VeloViewer application, which is used by World Tour teams. "It is a step closer to the tools used by the world's biggest races. VeloViewer helps teams with information about hazards on the route and logistics; for us organizers, it fundamentally simplifies route preparation, route marking, and tracking the positions of support or other vehicles," explains Roman Horký, course commander and safety coordinator.
4 Stages: From Team Time Trial to the Burn Site
-
Stage 1 - Team Time Trial: For the second time in history, the race opens with a discipline to be seen only at the Tour de France and here at the Feminin. A spectator-friendly start to the entire event.
-
Stage 2 - Through Bohemian Switzerland National Park: A "specialty" leading through the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The peloton will pass through the lowest point of the Czech Republic in Hřensko and also the so-called "burn site" - a unique landscape affected by the extensive national park fire in 2022.
-
Stage 3 - Through the Šluknov Hills: The Queen Stage has undergone changes due to construction work in Vilémov and Dolní Křečany. "The stage has been extended to 123 km, and the total elevation gain has increased to 1,604 meters," says Roman Horký.
-
Stage 4 - Through the Lusatian Mountains: The last of the four stages, starting in Varnsdorf and finishing again in Krásná Lípa, will be slightly shorter (88 km) due to the demanding previous day. "I expect more fighting spirit. The stage will return to the town of Varnsdorf for one pass again after the start, and I believe the shortened route will provoke the riders into a more active approach," adds Roman Horký.
More Than Just a Race: Partnership for Women’s Health
Tour de Feminin is not just about seconds and kilometers. This is evidenced by the partnership with the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer established last year. This connection highlights the importance of prevention and a healthy lifestyle. It is thanks to the support of the Alliance and other loyal partners that this beautiful tradition is kept alive and further developed.
We value every partner who shares this journey with us. It is thanks to them that Feminin can survive and grow," concludes Simona Davídková on behalf of the entire organizing team.
