Those who watched the Brabantse Pijl this year, noticed one new young talent in a front
group full of established champions. Sofia Ungerova made it to group who sprinted for the
victory and finished right behind the Worldchampion. The young puncheur has consistently
proved her talent so far this season and already looks ahead of the coming races. The
Slovak road & cyclocross rider races for MAT Atom Deweloper, this season, a team who has delivered many talents to the World Tour squads in the past years. Today, it's an ideal
moment to have a chat with one of the most talented teenagers in the elite peloton.

You already finished 15th between famous riders in the Brabantse Pijl. What did that result mean to you?

TThis result means a lot to me. Before the race, I didn't expect much, my only goal was to hold on at the front for as long as I can. During the race, when I realized I was riding together with such well-known riders, it felt unreal.

You finished on the podium of Gracia, last month. What are your ambitions for the Tour de Féminin?

My ambition is to hopefully achieve even better result in the GC than I did in Gracia, and also to fight for the podium, either for myself or for my teammates.

You already have won several races so far. What is your favourite victory celebration?

Probably just raising my hands, but I really need to work on that because in both UCI races I won, I did exactly the same hand movement.

What are your goals in your career?

My goal is to just keep improving in all aspects of cycling, continue developing both physically and mentally, and see how far I can go in the future.

You're the only Slovak rider in a team full of Polish riders. Did you already pick up the language a bit?

I've already picked up Polish quite well. All communication within the team is in Polish, so I learned the language pretty quickly.

What do you like the most about cycling?

I cannot really pinpoint what I like the most. I really enjoy spending time with my team, racing, training, and also travelling. I also like the whole lifestyle around cycling, discovering new places and experiencing different races and cultures.

What is your main interest outside the sport?

To be honest, cycling takes up such a big part of my life that most of my interests are somehow connected to it. But outside of racing itself, I really enjoy travelling, discovering new places, spending time with my friends and family. I also like relaxing after training, listening to music, watching movies, ...
